Services & Facilities
Strategically located near the great shipping lanes of the North West Atlantic Ocean, but sheltered in a deep, ice-free harbour, Long Harbour is positioned for the future. The infrastructure is in place to take advantage of a wide range of industrial opportunities.
The Town of Long Harbour has outdoor recreational facilities, a community hall, convenience stores, several machine shops, warehouses, and a garage.
Approximately 80% of the Town is served by a municipal water supply from Shingle and Trout Ponds. The water supply is able to accommodate a 300% population growth and beyond. Upgrades to the system are planned for 2010.
Road access from the Town to the Trans Canada Highway (Route 202) has been upgraded and newly paved and the access road to Placentia and Argentia (Route 101) has been upgraded and ready for pavement in 2010.
There are plans for upgrades, enhancements and additions as demands for improved municipal infrastructure grow further.
