Business Development
The construction of the Vale Inco NL commercial nickel processing plant means significant infrastructure developments are set to take place in Long Harbour. The construction of new buildings in addition to upgrading existing infrastructure is expected to enhance the lifestyles of the residents of Long Harbour. New residential, commercial, and industrial spaces will make Long Harbour a great place to live and work.
A mini-home subdivision is underway near Maturin Brook. Thirty homes will be ready for occupancy in 2010. You can view pictures of this development in our Photos section. Another new housing development is in the planning stages with a developer for Middle Pond. The size of the proposed building lots are one acre and one-half acre with the one acre lots having pond frontage.
Vale Inco has constructing a new Fire Hall in the Town. The contract has been awarded to CGI Development Inc. The work is well underway and should be completed by February or March 2010. The Fire Hall will be turned over to the Town for ownership and use once it is complete. Check out the progress in our Photos section.
